Comparing Demand for Melamine Moulding Compound and Glazing Powder

Define demand before comparing the powders

For a tableware factory, body-forming moulding compound would generally account for more purchased tonnage than surface glazing powder. This is an inference from their different functions, not a measured global market ranking. Here, melamine powder means A5 moulding compound, rather than pure melamine chemical feedstock. Buyers should compare monthly material consumption for the same product mix; sales value, search interest and order frequency are different measures.

A5 supplies the body of melamine dinnerware

A5 melamine moulding compound forms the body of plates, bowls and serving trays. Its required quantity follows the production schedule and the approved powder charge for each item. Larger or thicker products can increase compound consumption even when finished-piece output stays unchanged. For food-contact dinnerware, buyers should confirm the specific formulation and finished-product compliance rather than relying on a commercial grade name alone.

Keep A1 and A5 requirements separate

A1 urea moulding compound belongs to a different resin system from A5. It can be evaluated for suitable non-food moulded products, including buttons and selected electrical components, with application-specific validation. A factory purchasing both grades should forecast them separately by product and colour. Combining all amino moulding powder purchases into one figure can obscure actual A5 demand; a glazing layer does not turn an A1 substrate into A5.

Glazing demand follows surface and decoration needs

DONGXIN lists LG110, LG220 and LG250 glazing powders for different supporting functions: LG110 for A1 or urea-based substrates, LG220 for A5 melamine surfaces, and LG250 for decal-paper applications. Glazing powder serves the finish rather than the bulk product body. Its consumption depends on surface area, decoration method and process losses. Smaller tonnage does not make it optional where the approved production process requires it.

Calculate an illustrative purchasing requirement

Assume a planning example uses 200 g of moulding compound and 5 g of glazing powder per item. For 10,000 items, the quantities are 2,000 kg and 50 kg respectively, before losses. These assumed doses demonstrate arithmetic only; they are not a recommended recipe or industry ratio. Replace them with trial-approved material usage for each product, then add measured losses and account for usable stock already available.

Buy the two materials as a coordinated supply plan

For an A5 dinnerware line, buyers would normally plan more compound by weight while maintaining enough compatible LG220 glazing powder to complete the same orders. A small glazing shortage can still interrupt finishing and delivery. Set reorder points for each material using actual consumption, supplier lead time and storage life.
